Impact > intention

Because I’m a word dork, I prefer impact over intention. Someone can have a great intention but if their execution doesn’t account for the impact it’s going to have, it doesn’t matter that they WANTED to do the right thing.

How we do the micro is how we do the macro.

People pleasers are examples. They WANT to do the right thing. They WANT to make everyone happy. But when they tell you what you want to hear (intention) and then can’t follow through (impact) it feels worse than if they’d have just been honest up front (and said no, or wtf, or this is a terrible idea).

All the good intention in the world (macro) is worthless without action (micro) behind it to create impact.
